This meeting has been moved to the 25th July due to the very hot weather today.
Join us at St Matthew’s Church Hall on Wood Lane, from 7.45 pm, on Monday 18 July for an origami session with Heather where we’ll be learning how to make decorative gift boxes and how to wrap tricky-shaped objects. Please bring along something to wrap if you’d like to try this out.
This month we will be joined by a choir leader from Rock Choir who will be teaching us a song in the Rock Choir style – singing will start promptly at 8pm! Please bring along a water bottle to keep those vocal chords lubricated. Join us on Monday 11 July from 7.45 pm at St Matthew’s Church Hall on Wood Lane.
This month we’re visiting Yorke Gate Garden, in, Adel, on Wednesday 29 June. Tucked away in North Leeds, York Gate is a magical one-acre garden created by the Spencer family between 1951 and 1994. It is one of the finest small gardens in the country with a design of ‘rooms’ interlinked through a succession of vistas with meticulous attention to detail. There’s also a tea room, plant nursery and gift shop. Our plan is to meet in time for a 2pm entrance slot, look around the garden and then stay on for tea or coffee if people wish to. Admission is £7, paid on entry, but we do need to book tickets in advance so please email email@example.com by Monday 20 June to reserve your place.
Join us online at 7.30 pm on Monday 22 August when we will be having an informal chat about two films. “Concrete Cowboy” is available on Amazon Prime (small fee) or Netflix. Sent to live with his estranged father for the summer, a rebellious teen finds kinship in a tight-knit Philadelphia community of Black cowboys. “Man in the Hat” is available on Amazon Prime for £1.99. A man journeys through France in a Fiat 500 accompanied by a framed photograph of an unknown woman. He is pursued by five angry men in a Citroen. Travelling north on his escape, he encounters mysterious strangers, coming face-to-face with the vivid eccentricities of an old country while trying to evade the pursuers who are always relentlessly on his tail.
This month’s meeting will be a social event, in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee, complete with a cream tea, quiz and fizz! Join us at St Matthews Church Hall on Wood Lane, from 7.45 pm, on Monday 13 June.
Join us at 3.30 pm on Tuesday 24 May for a circular canal and riverside walk of approximately 6.5 miles from Rodley to Kirkstall and back. Drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you’re coming along.
Join us at St Matthew’s Church Hall on Wood Lane, from 7.45 pm, on Monday 16 May for a wire knitting session with Heather. We’ll be crafting some embellishments for tea-light glasses which are easy to make – you only need to be able to make a basic plain knit row! Please bring along some beads and metal knitting needles, size 3mm-4mm, if you have them.
