Join us online for a knit and a natter on Wednesday 16 September.
September Book Club
Book Club continues to meet online with the next meeting on Monday 7 September, when we will be discussing Silas Marner by George Eliot.
August Meeting – German Lesson
The meeting on 16th August will start at 7.45 and you can find the link in the email we sent out. Irene will be giving us an introduction to the German language – hardly possible in a face to face meeting where masks are worn so this one will be particularly appropriate for Zoom. Do join us if you can – it promises to be a good one!
Book Club – August 2020
Book Club continues to meet online with the next meeting taking place on Monday 3 August when we will be discussing The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

Craft club – July
This month we decided to make use of the good weather and bright evening and hold a socially distanced craft club. Meeting in small groups in members gardens we did a knit and natter. It was so nice to see other people other than on a Zoom call.

July Meeting – Edible Sculptures
At our meeting this month we attempted edible sculpting. Some of the wonderful and inventive sculptures below. It was great to see everyone who joined us for our virtual meeting – thank you to all those who joined in the challenge to build something (anything!) out of edible materials. There were no prizes on offer but plenty of giggles as to inspiration and the challenges of construction. Can you tell which one is the Eiffel Tower or the Guggenheim museum?

July Meeting – Edible Sculptures
This month we are building something (anything!) out of edible materials in advance of our get together. We will be sharing photos of our constructions at our virtual meeting on the 13th July. It’s all a bit of fun and no need to worry about creating anything too complicated or intricate!
I look forward to seeing the images.

July Book Group
Our next book group will be on Monday July 6th when we will be discussing “I am Malala” – it’s going to be a stimulating read and we are so looking forward to the discussion. Heather will email the link for the zoom meeting to members nearer to the time.

June Craft Group
The next Craft Group will be on 17th July at 7.30. At the moment we are trying to match things that members want to learn with skills that other members have. This is an ongoing process so don’t think you have missed the boat. If you have any particular things you’d like to consider at the meeting do use WhatsApp to tell us all in advance.

June Meeting – Virtual Meeting
So here we are preparing for our third virtual full WI meeting. I do hope that many of you are now feeling that you are used to Zoom – it was a steep learning curve for me but has been such a good prop to help cope with this trying situation.
A very British comment coming up – yes the weather. It’s raining as I write and for once I’m hearlily glad of it but not as happy as my lupins which are on the verge of jumping out of the ground for joy. I hope however that you have been able to enjoy the stunning weather of late and lets hope the sunshine and warmth return very soon. See our latest email for the zoom details.
