June Meeting

This month we have a guided tour of Beckett Street Cemetery, on Monday 12 June. The tour starts at 6.30 pm and we’ll be meeting at the cemetery on Beckett Street, LS9 7BH. Parking is limited so car sharing is advised – please do let us know via chapelpiewi@gmail.com if you’re planning to come along. Non-members are welcome to join us, as always, but we will ask for a £5 contribution towards the cost of the tour. Founded in 1842, the cemetery was officially opened in 1845 and is recognised as being one of England’s first municipal burial sites. Although closed to interments in 2001, it remains open for visitors, and has two listed structures besides being a listed park itself.
