Meet the Committee

The core Chapel Pie WI Committee is made up of our members and its purpose is to organise the meetings, source and look after speakers, keep the admin and finances in check, promote the WI, and run the Book Club and Supper Club.

We all have individual roles but we believe in an 'all hands to the pumps' approach and often muck in to get a project off the ground. But we know that the heart and soul of the WI is its members so we always welcome non-committee members to come forward with suggestions including speaker / activity ideas for the following year.

The Committee Members:

Kate is our new President, elected at the start of 2017, having been a member since 2014. She joined Chapel Pie to meet new friends in Chapel Allerton. Kate works full-time in IT and is also a busy mum to two gorgeous girls. A foodie who loves to bake and decorate a cake or two, she is a regular at the WI supper and craft clubs and can often be found checking out the local restaurants.  She enjoys creative pursuits and is a keen but amateur crocheter and has been known to try sewing and even upholstery. Kate also likes to travel and has spent many holidays in the US, Europe and Australia. She spent many years living in, London and the South East  but is now happily settled in Yorkshire.

Gaynor is our Secretary.

Penny has been Chapel Pie WI Treasurer since 2010 and has been a member since its Foundation.  Penny is a Yorkshire Lass who has lived in Leeds for the last 10 years.  She puts her project management skills to good use in planning extensive travels around the world with exciting activities, which has included walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Easter Island, walking up and down the Grand Canyon in a day and skydiving.  When not travelling she is usually renovating her house or planning long walks in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.  As a foodie she's found Chapel Pie WI to be a great place to meet like minded women, and although not very creative Penny has enjoyed trying out new activities and skills with the ladies.

Irene is our Craft Club Officer. She's a a native Austrian and in spite of living in the UK for 16 years, her "Europeanisms" keep our WI entertained. She has been a member of Chapel Pie WI since its foundation. She joined the group to meet like-minded women after she moved to Leeds from the South of England and was secretary from 2012 to 2014. As you can see from her profile picture, she likes to travel and shares her passion for reading and craft with the other members of the group.

Caroline is our Supper Club Officer and has been a member of the Chapel Pie WI since its foundation.  Her love of all things 'foodie' made her the perfect match for the supper club, which has been going strong since June 2011. Caroline moved to Yorkshire in 2003 and loves living in the heart of Chapel Allerton.  Caroline likes nothing more than to experiment with new recipes (primarily of the sweet variety), visit tea rooms (Betty's is her second home) and travel the world.  in 2014 she opened her new business venture....Caroline's Cakes!

Lizzy is our Offline-marketing Officer who joined Chapel Pie WI in October 2011. Lizzy also made a big life change in 2011 when she left her career as a Chartered Accountant to fulfill her dream of running her own photography business, "my best decision ever!" Working as a photographer lets Lizzy combine her creativity with her enjoyment of working with lovely people, especially the younger ones. Lizzy loves the outdoors and has an adventurous spirit that never goes away. In 2012 she cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats and previous adventures include climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and volunteering as Landrover driver for the youth development charity Raleigh in Central America. Who knows what's next?! Lizzy's blog is at www.lizzybellphotography.com/blog

A big thank-you must also go to our other committee members who help with online marketing, scheduling, booking speakers and 'meet and greet' activities.
